Marriage Counselling

I adore the pastor this is marrying us. He is pretty young and has a large family. I met one of his sons and the interactions between the two are adorable!

At our first counselling session we talked about the things we love about each other. We also had to talk about 3 things we don't like. That part was hard. Gag worthy I know, but we are still in the honeymoon phase :). We eventually each came up with 3 specific times we were upset. The next thing we talked about was sex. He made us decide how many times a week we want to have sex and encouraged us to stick to it. That was the most awkward part. I'm not use to discussing how important sex is with a pastor. I'm use to the "save it" high school pastor speeches.

Tomorrow we have our next session. We will be getting "interviewed" separately so he can write about us for the service. Oddly that is making me nervous...

Wedding Planning Sucks

Planning a wedding while trying to follow everyone's wishes is so hard. I am currently planning with my awesome groom, my mother, his mother, my father and my sister.

His mom is awesome and keeps us on track. The only thing is she has been a maid of honor for a bunch of fancy, expensive weddings. I must remind her that my wedding is that of two poor teenagers, hosted by my upper-middle class parents. They can't afford the $40,000 we seem to be planning when her and I get together.

My sister is adorable. She is a five foot, red head. Her size 0 body is tiny next to my size 4. Needless to say, she is beautiful. That has caused a few rifts in this wedding planning. I didn't want her to wear a strapless dress. How is it fair that she gets to have D-cups while I barely fill a C? I didn't want those babies popping out! In the end my mom told me I could have no bridesmaids if I didn't stop trying to make my sister look ugly.... BUSTED! :)

My mom is amazing. She is by far one of my best friends. Growing up we fought a lot. Now that I have been on my own a year things couldn't be better! She will hold my hand while I cry, but she also has the guts to tell me when I'm being a bitch. The only problem here is that my mom hasn't planned a wedding since hers, 24 years ago!

My dad has been the best wedding planner of all. How could I have expected anything less? He is the same guy who through me a crazy fear factor party in elementary school! He has spoiled me so much! When I'm hysterical about how much something costs (yes, I'm a cheapo) he explains that you only have one wedding, over and over. Love that man!

My other man, Mack is my best best friend. He makes me feel like a princess every day and would do anything for me. I am so blessed to have found the man of my dreams at such a young age. Even my closest family was 100% okay with my wedding from the start because everyone can see we are perfect. I use to have severe anxiety. I have not had one panic attack since I have lived with him!

So now you know a little about my family! Stay tuned as the wedding unravels!

Introductions

Every English teacher I have ever had said don't start writing with a "my name is____ and I'm going to tell you about ____", statement. For this I can't think of any other way to begin.

My name is Ashley, and this blog you are about to read is about my life as a teenage wife.

I am 18 years old and I will be getting married March 17th, 2012. We have been together for just over a year and a half. We have been through a lot together, including graduating from high school together a year ago.

We have been living together for a year, so I am already playing the wife role. Now that we have money together I am ready to make it official. Lots of people say I am too young, and to be honest, I couldn't care less. I have seen 40 year olds marry and divorce. I have also seen my parents marriage. My mom was 18 and they have now been together 24 years. It can work if you get the right people together.

Some of you may already know me. I have been a book reviewer since I was 13 years old. I ran a blog religiously up until 3 months ago. It was at that point that I realized I just don't have the time to read and review that I use to have. My life has gone a whole new direction. I can no longer read the 9 books a week that I have read every week for these 5 years.

Here are some fun little tidbits about me. When I was a sophomore in high school I received a call from a prominent publishing company. One of my contacts had recommended me for an internship! I was interviewed by HR and they apparently loved me. When they asked how soon I could be in New York, I responded with, "let me ask my mom." Apparently that clued them into the fact that I was too young. They told me to call them back when I graduated from high school.

Another fun review thing was when I was the YA interviewer at The West Hollywood Book Fair. I was lucky enough to interview Alexa Young, Jay Asher, and Allison Burnett. I was also able to meet Molly Ringwald!!!!

Now I am busy pulling the last few wedding details together and going to school. I am in a Dialysis Tech program at the local college. I will be done with that at the end of August. For now I work two retail jobs. I work at a nice children's store and in the jewelry department of a department store.

Can't wait to diverge into the world of being a wife. Thanks for joining me.
Ashley
